Lepelle Northern Water says is it working around the clock to address the poor quality of raw water from the Doorndraai Dam which has high levels of manganese and iron.

The repairs have temporarily affected water supply for residents in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality as supply from the Doorndraai scheme has gone down.

Last month, the local municipality issued a warning to residents to boil water before use due to its poor quality.

The water utility spokesperson Joe Makhafola says repairs are underway and two service providers have been appointed to refurbish the chemical dosing and filtration system.

Makhafola says normal operations are expected to resume by the 21st of March.
